2013 Board Member Elections

 

Important Announcement from the Nominations Committee of the Main Market Co-op (MMC):

Once again it is that time of year on our membership calendar where we must begin the process of electing new members to the Board of Directors. This year the terms of our first two elected (2010) board members comes to an end. With two open seats to fill, we have particular needs for candidates with skills and experience in finance, as well as marketing and community relations.
 
The candidates that you, our members, elect to the Board of Directors work to ensure the health and vitality of our Co-op, and guarantee that our mission is fulfilled for years to come. This being said, it matters that you participate in this election process!
 
Please consider applying for this important volunteer position and serving your Co-op, as well as the broader community. For those interested, we will host an information session from 5:30 – 6:30 PM, on Wednesday, February 13, 2013, in the deli seating area at the Co-op.
 

The attached application is due before the end of day, Thursday, February 28, 2013.

More Information:

  • The overarching duties of the Board of Directors are to direct and control the MMC’s business and affairs in the interests of the members.
  • There shall be a minimum of nine Directors. We are currently accepting applications for two positions.

 

Nominations Process: 

  • The overarching duties of the Board of Directors are to direct and control the MMC’s business and affairs in the interests of the members.
  • There shall be a minimum of nine Directors. We are currently accepting applications for two positions.
  • Applications will be accepted from interested MMC members in good standing and who are not presently employees of the MMC.
  • The Nominations Committee, a standing committee of the Board, will interview the applicants. The Committee will present the applicant information to the full Board who will then approve a slate of candidates.
  •  The slate of candidates will be placed on a ballot to be voted on by the full membership.
  • The ballots will be counted and the outcome announced at the Annual Meeting held in April.
  • The term of the newly elected Directors begins 30 days after the election.
  • The length of terms shall be for three years with the possibility of re-election for a second three-year term.
  • The Secretary of the Board of Directors handles election proceedings.
