2016 Annual Meeting & Election Info

2016 Annual Meeting

Thursday, April 28th, 2015 5-7PM

As many of you know, our annual member meeting will be held on Thursday, April 28th from 5-7 pm at the Co-op.  We will feature drinks and snacks catered by our deli. This is a great opportunity to participate in ownership. It's also a time to vote for board members, hear important updates about where your co-op is headed, learn about important milestones we’ve achieved and have your voice heard. There will be time for questions and answers from our members at the end of the evening.

Time to Vote!!

The time is almost here to elect the newest members of your Board of Directors. This year we have three candidates and three open seats to fill. Please exercise your membership by participating in this important process and playing a role in the future of your Co-op. Follow the voting instructions at the bottom of this email to ensure that your vote is counted.

Candidates

Dr. Ellen Maccarone

Having now served on the co-op board for three years, serving as President of Board for two of them, I seek re-election for a second term.  I am even more committed to the co-op now than I was three years ago when I ran the first time.  I have seen the co-op and the board come far over these last three years, but there are more things I want to accomplish for the Main Market.  I hope to be able to continue with some of these longer range plans in a second term.  Some of these things include a greater program of member education and participation; aligning the by-laws and policy governance; and continued support of the GM and co-op success.

I have lived in Spokane for 11 years, and am an Associate Professor of Philosophy and Faculty Advisor to the President at Gonzaga University.  My academic background in applied ethics, particularly business ethics and food ethics are relevant to my work on the Board.  I was a member of the co-op before it had a location and am committed to helping the co-op and Spokane offer the best in local and sustainably produced food.  I look forward to being able to continue my service to the co-op if re-elected.

Stephanie works at Potlatch Corporation, a verified leader in sustainable forestry, where she is the Corporate Controller. She is a CPA and brings nearly 30 years of experience in accounting, financial controls and corporate governance.

For Stephanie, Main Market provides an opportunity to continue building a healthy community for Spokane.

Nancy McKennon

Nancy McKennon is a registered architect based in Spokane (office in the Saranac building for the last 10 years).  Her practice is centered on custom designed residences, residential remodels, garages, and out buildings.  The many successful projects that she has completed are the result of thoughtful collaboration with clients, contractors, interior designers, and landscape architects.

The original planning and design of the Main Market occurred in her office under the guidance of Jennifer Hall.  Her interest in the Market originated at that point.  It was a good fit, as she has always been interested in good food produced by good people at a human scale.

She is a graduate of WSU and a Spokane resident of over 30 years, a mother of four and grandmother of 7.
