Seeking Board Member Candidates

It's election time again!! The most important way any of you can participate as owners of your co-op is shopping here, but the SECOND most powerful way to participate in the success of your co-op is by running  for board elections. The board serves as the voice of our cooperative membership and directly oversees the General Manager.

We are happy to report the co-op has experienced three years of stability in management and professionalization in all areas of its operation largely through our work with the national co-op for co-ops--National Co-Op Grocers. In addition, we've participated over the last two years in Cooperative Board Leadership Development (CBLD), which has brought focus and purpose to our board through policy governance and working with a dedicated board consultant.

It is a very exciting time to be a part of the Board, with opportunities to shape the co-op's future, participate deeply in cooperative business development and understanding, and to network and even travel! with and to other co-ops throughout the country to see what makes this movement and business model so outstanding for our country and community.

We would LOVE to have you--the only true requirement is that you're a member and can commit to attend a monthly board meeting (1.5 hours) with a yearly 1 day (8 hour) board retreat with voluntary work on more targeted committees (commitment varies). We welcome a diversity of experience, views, and background in board members. We are also seeking at least one member with legal expertise.

We have 4 open seats to fill. If interested, please submit THIS board application by email to board@mainmarket.coop OR snail mail it to:

Attn:Nominating Committee

44 W Main Ave

Spokane, WA 99201.

Applications are also available at the registers of the co-op AND may be turned in there in a sealed envelop addressed as above.

Application is due no later than March 8, 2017. After submitting an application, you will be contacted for a friendly interview with our nominating committee who will then fill you in on all subsequent steps of the process.

AND if you know someone that would be a great fit for the board, please encourage them to apply--becoming a member has never been easier!
