Our goal is to offer a diversity of fresh produce while focusing  on locality, seasonality, and sustainability. Whether certified organic or not, we will never buy produce that is genetically modified or treated with chemical fertilizers or pesticides. We believe that healthy, high quality produce should be accessible to everyone and we strive to offer the best prices on organic, naturally grown produce in town.

Our hero is the local farmer and we highlight their hard work and beautiful produce any way we can—by offering fair prices, facilitating the buying process, and giving them due credit. You can meet your local farmers on Member/Owner Appreciation sale days or read about them on our biography board in the produce department any time you visit!

The seafood options sold by Main Market are approved choices for wild, aquaculture harvest. Main Market grocery buyers prioritize organic, local grocery items packaged in an environmentally responsible way. Main Market sells eggs from hens that are raised cage-free on family-owned farms that prioritize healthy feed and humane treatment. As a natural foods retailer Main Market Co-op purchases dairy products – including fresh milk, yogurt, butter, sour cream, cheese, ice cream – produced without the use of artificial growth hormones to increase milk production.

Main Market Take-Away includes fresh daily salads, soups and baked goods. The season’s best vegetables and meats are showcased here, including produce from our own roof. No need for artificial flavorings or preservatives, as all selections are made either in-house or by one of our excellent local partners.
