The cooperative style of local ownership and direction allows the store to consistently offer more than just groceries. Staying fresh, both with our food and our concepts, keeps our community healthy and progressive. Main Market thanks the Board of Directors for their volunteer commitment to overseeing the availability of local and sustainable groceries, and stewardship of our owner investments.

We thank our initial visionary and angel investor, Jim Sheehan of the Community Building LLC, for the chance to do better for Spokane, and model how business can function by a triple bottom-line, placing equal value on social, environmental and financial returns. While recruitment has closed for new 2010 Board applicants, active members of Main Market Co-op can still be involved. The Co-op Bylaws invite members to serve on Board Committees to help increase input and representation in decision-making.
Participation on a Board Committee requires a year commitment, and is a great way to become more familiar with Board service. Most committees meet once a month for an hour and a half and have some additional emails and phone call work in addition.
If you have a little extra time, are already a Main Market Co-op member and want to help make your consumer food co-op stronger, please contat the Board of Directors at board@mainmarket.coop to inquire about current committee openings.
